|
Dear Residents & Businesses,
Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:
PATROLS Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour, and our local green spaces.
ARRESTS This week, the team have arrested a 38 year old male for shoplifting offences that occurred in Riley Square. He was arrested and charged for the offence.
VEHICLE CRIME & BURGLARY We have had no reports of burglary this week but have had two reports of theft of motor vehicle.
The first theft of motor vehicle occurred between 19:00 on 25/04/2026 and 20:30 on 27/04/2026 in the Silverdale Close area whereby a blue Vauxhall Corsa was parked and secured. Offenders have gained access to the vehicle by unknown means and have made off from the location. This vehicle was later located in Warwickshire by Warwickshire Police and has since been recovered. If you may have heard or seen anything, contact us on 101 quoting 20/229430/26.
The second theft of motor vehicle occurred between 15:30 on 27/04/2026 and 05:30 on 28/04/2026 in the Wyken Brook View area of Bell Green where a white Mercedes C250 was parked and secured. This was then stolen by unknown means and offenders have made off with the vehicle. If you may have heard or seen anything, please contact us on 101 quoting 20/229563/26

STREETWATCH We are in the process of setting up a Streetwatch in the Longford area. We have a few prospective members but we are always looking for more volunteers to get involved within the Longford and Bell Green areas. We have a new group starting around the Old Church Road/Proffitt Avenue area and a potential group around the Jackers Road area too. If you would like more information or if you're interested in joining, please contact Streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk with your name, telephone number and postcode.
OTHER INFORMATION We now have two Designated Neighbourhood Officers (DNO's) for Longford, these are PC Gallagher and PC Chapple. PC Chapple attended our PACT meeting at St Thomas' Church on Wednesday and we would like to thank those who attended. We hope to see you all at the next one in August.
Myself, PC Chapple and PC Gallagher are currently planning for future events such as bike marking sessions, crime prevention stands, visits to local Scouts Huts, youth engagement groups and Speedwatch sessions. If you know of any clubs, community events or would like to run an idea past us for us to get involved in, please reply back to this message and we are more than happy to help!
We have now confirmed dates for our next community meetings and engagements: Crime Prevention - Arena Retail Park, Classic Drive - 15/05/2026 at 10:00-11:00 PACT Meeting - St Thomas' Church, Longford Road - 25/08/2026 at 18:00-19:00
